Katrin Baumgartner, Zoo Veterinarian and curator, Zoo Nuremberg, Germany
Daniel Sakarli, PhD student, University Hospital of North-Norway, Norway
What? Building on science and practical experience, many zoos and aquariums are developing robust, routine methods to assess welfare. Katrin and Daniel will introduce an effective matrix applicable to all species before presenting the Dolphin-WET, a welfare assessment tools for dolphins. Designed for regular use by animal care professionals, the tool enables consistent, comparable evaluations over time and among individuals.
